Thought i'd be the first one to fill out miss_nightowl
's lovely introduction meme.
So here goes..... 1. Name 10 of your favourite musicals.
Its really hard for me to stop at 10 cos quite frankly theres not many I dont love plus my favourites tend to change depending on what sort of mood im in. But for now it would probably be...
West Side Story
Across The Universe
Little Shop Of Horrors
The Sound Of Music
The Wizard Of Oz
(notable mentions go to Carousel, De-lovely, Phantom, Joseph, Beauty & the Beast, Oliver, Oklahoma, Cabaret, My Fair Lady, Gypsy and Summer Holiday)
2. Have you ever seen any live? If so where?
None from my list unfortuntely. The only musicals I have seen on stage are Grease, Joseph, Return to the Forbidden Planet and..er...Casper the musical. Don't ask.....
Saw Joseph and Casper in London and Return to the Forbidden Planet and Grease in Wolverhampton.
3. What is your fave song from no.2?
^^^ So many great songs so its pretty tough to choose. Just for pure energy and the sing-a-long factor i'd go for America
. Plus i have a soft spot for Bernardo.
4. Who is your fave character from no.4?
Seymour. I love him hes adorable and if i'd have been Audrey i would have snapped him up in an instant - giant man-eating pot plant or not. Also love Audrey and Steve Martin as the dentist who is just hilarious.
5. What is your favourite scene in no.6?
The whole Lets Bowl routine - for want of a better word its cheesetastic!
Plus where else can you find dancing nuns in a bowling alley
6. Whats your favourite lyric from no.8?
"So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen"
Just a beautiful song and a beautiful lyric.
7. What character from no.10 are you most like?
The cowardly lion. I am a complete wimp - im scared of dogs but i think deep down I have a good heart.
8. Do you know all the songs from no.1?
Yes! I have most of them on my i-pod. I actually sing Black Hills of Dakota (outta tune) constantly, its a gorgeous song. Also love Secret Love and I Can Do Without You, Doris Day and Howard Keel are both utterly amazing - loves em'.
9. How many times have you seen no.3?
Twice. I've only just discovered this musical, I dont know if it was released in England or went straight to dvd but i never remember seeing or hearing anything about it. I was flicking through the channels read the info about it saw the words "Beatles" and "musical" and figured that this could only be good. How can a musical love story, set in the 60's and featuring the characters singing Beatles songs not be fabulous?
10. If you could be anyone from no.5 who would you be and why?
I would be the character Tracy/Samantha. Firstly she's played by Grace Kelly so she's of course beautiful and classy and secondly every male character in the movie is in love with her so hey thats gotta be a bonus. Also she gets serenaded by a young Frank Sinatra, how is that not cool..
11. What is your fave quote from no7?
Because im a big softie it would be when Captain Von Trapp hears the children singing and says to Maria.."You brought music back into the house. I had forgotten" **sniffle**
12. Of all the musicals you've listen which one is your absolute fave?
Hmmm...its a toss up between West Side Story and Moulin Rouge but im opting for Moulin Rouge because Ewan McGregor singing Your Song is the most gloriously romantic moment i have ever seen.
